My Feminist Guide co-author Arden Leigh wrote a huge piece for XO Jane about the current controversy surrounding pick up artists, which has become particularly apparent after the online backlash to self-proclaimed pickup artist Ken Hoinsky’s Kickstarter seduction guide “Above the Game: A Guide to Getting Awesome with Women.”  Arden discusses the politics of the pickup, and the reasons we decided to push forward with our book.  Click the link below for the full article!

As some of you may know, we originally intended to fund A Feminist Guide to Picking Up Men on Kickstarter, but were denied because of their new restrictions banning seduction manuals following the public outcry against Ken Hoinsky’s aforementioned project.  Katie J.M. Baker wrote a piece for Jezebel following our original project announcement.  She looks at the male-dominated history of the pickup artist, Arden Leigh’s previous book The New Rules of Attraction, and our current project.  (Spoiler alert: she doesn’t believe a feminist can be a pickup artist).  Despite our disparate stances, the article makes for a fascinating read.  Follow the link below for the full post:

We’re thrilled that the book is sparking so much controversy and discussion–that is one of the main reasons we’re writing it.  These issues need to be addressed, not suppressed!  Tell us what you think in the comments!
